Border Standoff: China Coast Guards on Taiwanese Tourist Yacht

China coast guards board Taiwanese tourist boat

Recently, tensions have risen in the South China Sea as China’s coast guards boarded a Taiwanese tourist boat near disputed waters.

The incident occurred as the tourist boat was carrying passengers on a sightseeing trip near the Taiwan-controlled Pratas Islands. The Chinese coast guards approached the boat and demanded to board for an inspection.

Taiwanese authorities have condemned the actions of the Chinese coast guards, calling it a violation of Taiwan’s sovereignty. The incident has sparked concerns about escalating tensions in the region.

China claims most of the South China Sea, despite overlapping territorial claims from Taiwan, Vietnam, the Philippines, and other nearby countries. The region is a major shipping lane and is rich in natural resources, making it a hotspot for territorial disputes.
